Edd sent me a pointer to a nice article from Scott Raymond called "Refactoring to REST" in which he outlines how his application code was improved and simplified by adopting a more RESTful design. The application here was built on Rails and used the Simply Restful plugin to nudge Rails into a more RESTful aspect. … Continue reading Benefits of Refactoring to REST

Java Hosting Recommendations?
I'm looking to move the hosting of my sites and applications to a new provider and am interested to hear if anyone has any recommendations. Ideally I want an environment that provides me with ssh access, Java and JSP/Servlet hosting through a private VM. I really want the freedom to be able to easily manage … Continue reading Java Hosting Recommendations?
Feeding Google Co-Op with SPARQL
Last night I took my first look at Google Co-op, in particular the "Subscribed Links" feature which allows users to add services to Google search results. The developer documentation outlines the process by which you can go about creating a service, which is simply a matter of creating a fairly simple XML configuration file. The … Continue reading Feeding Google Co-Op with SPARQL
A hack and a release
Courtesy of Lidia Rovan there's now a Croatian FOAF-a-Matic. Elsewhere I've been experimenting with adding GRDDL support to my SPARQL service. So its now possible to query microformats using SPARQL. Not sure whether to keep cross-posting this stuff, or try and get XAK blog on Planet RDF?
Hungarian FOAF-a-Matic
Thanks to Stefan Braun the FOAF-a-Matic is now available in Hungarian. Next up: Croatian. Would like: Russian.

Generating Google Earth Overlays with SPARQL and XSLT
Here's some notes on some hacking I've been doing over the last few days. Firstly, I've implemented some extensions for manipulating geo data in SPARQL queries. There's a write-up on the XMLArmyKnife blog. That allows you to ask questions such as "find points 10 kms from this location" and "test whether a point is within … Continue reading Generating Google Earth Overlays with SPARQL and XSLT
