About

I’m Leigh Dodds and this is my blog.

I’m a middle-aged nerd who lives in Bath. I love Bath.

I also love the web.

I’ve spent the last 20 years of my career working around open data and data standards.

I’ve built platforms to help people to find, access and use data.

I’ve built products and services that use data, e.g. to help academic researchers to share their work, and to help schools become more energy efficient.

I’ve worked across a range of industries with small startups, not-for-profits and large multinationals. I’ve spoken at conferences, run community groups, delivered training courses and produced research around open data and data infrastructure.

This blog is my personal notebook.

I write about the topics that interest me to help me learn and organise my thoughts.

I share it all here in case others find it useful. Getting feedback helps me to further clarify my thinking.

In amongst the post around data and data infrastructure you’ll find stuff about my hobbies (video games, TTRPGs), general nerdy, as well as occasional more personal updates.
